Women's employment within the framework of Quranic and traditional teachings is a multi-layered issue whose evaluation necessitates simultaneous attention to textual implications, expediency-oriented considerations, and socio-familial consequences. An examination of related verses indicates that some verses denote the possibility of women's economic and social activity, whereas others are cited with restrictive readings concerning gender roles; hence, three major approaches have emerged in interpreting this domain: the minimalist perspective, which emphasizes individual expedients and jurisprudential limitations; the maximalist perspective, which seeks complete alignment with modern patterns of participation and equality; and the moderate perspective, which, while preserving the foundation of the family, emphasizes the dynamism of the Sharia and the possibility of rational and proportionate participation of women in the public sphere. The synthesis of the moderate approach demonstrates that the principle of the permissibility of women's employment is defensible, but its realization must be conditioned upon the observance of human dignity, the proportionality of the profession with women's psychological-social capabilities and traits, the preservation of chastity and moral boundaries, and the prevention of the weakening of key spousal and maternal roles. From a policy perspective, the government's role in creating family-compatible job opportunities, developing home-based businesses and recognizing their rights and benefits, as well as designing supportive mechanisms to reduce the conflict between employment and familial responsibilities, is proposed as a core strategy.
