Comparative literature has garnered attention as a dynamic approach in literary studies among universities and researchers in recent years, and with the expansion of student admissions and the publication of specialized journals, the need to precisely articulate its theoretical foundations and functions has doubled. The primary challenges in this field include the ambiguous institutional standing within the academic structure, the lack of disciplinary independence, a shortage of specialized custodians and efficient scientific associations, the confinement of comparative studies to the Persian-Arabic domain, a weak professional network among professors, a lack of localization and cultural geography definition, and widespread anxiety among graduates regarding career prospects. Furthermore, ignoring the capacity of comparative literature in scientific and cultural diplomacy and the weakness of literary criticism school education in related disciplines have restricted the path for this field's development. Proposed strategies emphasize establishing an independent comparative literature program at the master's and doctoral levels as a pilot in selected and limited universities, conducting needs assessments at domestic, regional, and international levels, and adhering to global standards in education and research. Additionally, creating joint tracks with regional universities, establishing joint research units to produce international scientific works, transforming Iran into a regional hub for comparative literature, training dispatched professors with a comparative approach, adding an introductory course on comparative literature to literary disciplines, and fostering domestic networking among specialized professors are proposed as policy requirements to stabilize and enhance the efficacy of this field.
