In addition to prioritizing research and educational missions, one of the key functions and responsibilities of universities is the development of social accountability capacities. As a top-tier specialized university in the country—benefiting from a vast community of thinkers and experts across various fields of humanities and social sciences—Allameh Tabataba'i University can play a vital and influential role in resolving the challenges facing society, industry, and executive institutions and organizations. Consequently, the primary mission of the university up to the year 2021 was defined as "identifying and addressing the issues and needs of society and the country based on sustainable national development with an interdisciplinary approach." To this end, faculties and research units—under the leadership and responsibility of the Vice-Presidency for Research and within a systematic framework through the organization of the "Assisting in Solving the Country's Problems" panel series—have encouraged numerous faculty members and scholars to brainstorm and reflect on overcoming the difficulties in various executive sectors of the country. Through these sessions, many professors and experts have been motivated to put forward practical ideas and solutions for resolving challenges across different executive sectors. Held jointly with the presence of academic faculty members and representatives from the country's executive, industrial, and social sectors, these sessions involve a thorough and expert examination of each sector's problems, enabling faculty members to offer policy recommendations to executive bodies and present their solutions for addressing national dilemmas.
It is hoped that Allameh Tabataba'i University, relying on Almighty God and utilizing its scientific and research capabilities, will take effective steps toward improving the country's conditions and moving in the direction of comprehensive national development.
