Violence at home and in society has evolved into a social crisis in Iran, accounting for a significant share of criminal cases and mortality among the 15 to 44 age group. Beyond physical trauma, this phenomenon generates widespread psychological, economic, and social consequences, and effective countermeasures require identifying the roots and breeding grounds of violence at various levels. Analysis indicates that the explanation and prevention of violence must be undertaken within a multi-level framework: the macro level (policies, laws, and governance mechanisms), the regional and ecological level (geographical distribution of crime and environmental conditions), the social groups level (the role of family, school, and peers), the everyday life level (lifestyle and social-economic pressures), and the individual level (psychological and bio-social factors). Weak trust in the law, limited living space, poverty, addiction, and the gap between academia, the educational system, the police, and the judiciary are identified as facilitating factors. Proposed strategies emphasize upgrading deterrent laws and policies, promoting anti-violence norms, developing evidence-based programs and evaluating their effectiveness, strengthening intersectoral coordination, expanding support services for victims, advancing community-oriented policing and restorative justice, teaching conflict resolution and parenting skills, and reinforcing social emergency services and safe centers for vulnerable groups.
