Abstract
The estrangement of the Quran in the country's higher education system, as an institutional and cultural issue, stems from the weakness of organized academic engagement with the Quran in the educational and research management of universities, as well as the limitation of interactions with the Quran to formal and non-problem-oriented models. This issue becomes prominent under conditions where the country's elite society faces a growing need for a more pronounced presence of the Quran in thought production, models of progress, and responses to social issues. Redefining the standing of the Quran in the system of knowledge production necessitates a meticulous pathology of existing structures and a shift from "purely specialized education" toward "public comprehension and contemplation (tadabbur)" and the production of applicable knowledge for various strata of society. Proposed strategies include empowering researchers to produce Quranic thought and institutionalizing it within national science production, reconstructing the system of expectations from religion and the Quran as a source of social modeling, updating the system of Quranic sciences production and revising Quranic science disciplines, and developing interdisciplinary studies to link the Quran with fields such as literature, art, archaeology, and foreign languages. Furthermore, it is imperative that the Quran be re-read in every generation using a language and expression appropriate to the exigencies of that era, thereby providing the possibility of transferring concepts to the new generation and reducing the cultural distance from the text of the Quran.
