Abstract
The resistance economy in the Quranic and Itrat framework is defined as a "sustaining economy" (iqtisad-i qawam-bakhsh) whose goal is to preserve the dignity and independence of society, ensure economic security, and increase resilience against external pressures. This approach is founded on the principle that economic strengthening, although relying on human rationality and experience, provides foundational principles and structures without which the economic system becomes unstable in the face of shocks. Within this framework, the resistance economy, relying on domestic capacities and the principle of rejecting the economic dominance of foreigners, does not signify severing ties with the world; rather, it requires precise planning to maintain economic communications while preventing dependency. Key components of this perspective include the proper utilization of natural resources—especially water and land—moving toward a knowledge-based economy, thriftiness and forward-looking planning, and serious attention to economic lawfulness and unlawfulness as the prerequisite for forming a "pure economy" (iqtisad-i tayyibah). Furthermore, faith and piety, a jihadist spirit, the discourse-building of the resistance economy, pathology of the status quo, documentation of successful experiences, improvement of the business environment, reduction of non-productive bureaucracy, and the design of flexible institutional arrangements for rapid response against sanctions are introduced as strategic imperatives. Ultimately, it is emphasized that the resistance economy will be sustainable when motivational rules, income distribution, and economic policymaking are harmonized with justice and religious values.
